The Power of Choice

Currently I, Shanae, am in the valley of transition. At the center of this valley, are a million choices, which range from small to large. Learning to navigate life in this season has been interesting but as I reflect upon the last several months I can’t help but feel the weight that our choices carry.

Scripture tells us in Proverbs 12:28 “I am giving you two choices. One is a path to life and one is a path to death.”

Let’s unpack this a bit. You see one choice brings Jesus into the equation and the other doesn’t. I know that NOT all of life’s choices are so serious; sometimes it’s as “simple” as deciding on having hot or cold coffee, praise the Lord. However, for me in this season of transition and having to make several important choices, I’ve had to figure out quickly a few major things.

The first thing is that I felt a lot of pressure to make the RIGHT choice while fearing that I would make the wrong one. I’ve realized that I needed to release this fear to the Lord and invite the Holy Spirit into my decision process and have peace in knowing I’ve done all that I could. The second thing is to learn that JOY counts it ALL as joy for the Lord. Transitions are messy and learning to release a no or a different outcome than expected hasn’t always been easy but giving it over to Jesus and replacing it with His JOY has been great!

Reminding myself to have fun in the process and getting rid of perfection brings the FUN back into the equation! Finally being intentional to make my choices with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Allowing them into my daily life has reminded me that I don’t need to know everything. I just need to be intentional and place my faith and trust in the Lord. He will NEVER fail you nor forsake you.

I pray the next time you find yourself making a small or large decision that fear, worry, or burdensome doesn’t consume you and that you are not only one in this decision process. The Holy Spirit reminds you that if you place your trust in the Lord He will see you through.

We see in Proverbs 16:9 “ A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life,] But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” This is the promise that I’m choosing to stand on and to grab ahold of. I’m learning to let Proverbs 16:9 be an anchor, when doubt, fear, confusion or ANYTHING that is in opposition to the Lord tries to sneak into my thoughts. I declare this over my situation and my choices.

I highly recommended going through the Word and looking up the Scriptures about choices and decision making, I promise you will feel secure as you are reminded about how the Father holds you in His hands and is with you every step of the way. Remember that His Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). As you lean into the One who will never fail you, everything starts to align.

Meditate on Isaiah 30:21 “ Your ears will a word behind you, this is the way, walk in it, whenever you turn to the right or to the left.”

My Prayer for You:

Dear Jesus,

I commit all of my ways to you, Lord. I place my FULL trust in You alone. Lord Your word says that if I commit my ways to You and follow Your will and perfect guidance for my life that I will succeed and I WILL NOT FAIL. I declare Peace over this season of transition and over EVERY single decision. Lord, I say have Your way. I place it all in Your perfect capable hands.

In the mighty name of Jesus, AMEN!
