Lifestyle of Worship

We are called to be a living sacrifice to the Lord! How glorious is that? Every action we take, every word we speak and every task we undertake should glorify Him. Worship is not limited to singing—it’s a way of life. True worship happens when we live a life of sacrifice, when worship becomes our lifestyle. Our lives should be in a constant state of worship. This month, let’s commit to being disciplined, intentional and mindful that every moment can be an act of service to the Lord Almighty. Worship is not just a part of our lives; it is the essence of a believer’s life. We must move away from compartmentalizing our lives, where worship is reserved for certain times of the week. Instead, we should embrace a continuous state of worship, recognizing that every moment is an opportunity to serve God. Worship is our personal and intimate declaration of gratitude for the boundless love of our Heavenly Father.

Psalm 95:6                                                                                                                                                      O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and prayer].

Praise is a gift we continually offer to our gracious Father, and He deserves our lavish worship—full of glory, exaltation, devotion, adoration, thanksgiving, honor, and magnification! Worship is Holy and set apart. It encompasses how we serve His Church, how we dedicate time to His presence, and how we love others. These are all expressions of worship. When we choose to be intentional with the Lord rather than being consumed by distractions, we make the choice to spend meaningful time with Him. May our lives be a reflection of the One to whom we belong.

This month, challenge yourself to eliminate distractions and draw closer to the Lord in worship. Worship is about celebration and honor. You might be wondering, How do I worship the Lord? Remember that worship is about the posture of your heart and your attitude. It flows from deep within and overflows into everything you do. True worship comes from a heart filled with adoration, awe, thankfulness, and passion for the Lord. It stems from a heart that is humble, submissive, and grateful for all that God is.

1 John 4:19                                                                                                                                                     We love, because He first loved us.

We worship Him because He first loved us and because He is worthy. If you’re looking for a starting place, think about how He saved you. Reflect on His character and nature. Let praise well up within you. Praise Him because He is the Truth and because He loves you with an everlasting love. Praise Him because He has redeemed you and because He is your Healer, Provider, and Wise Counselor. He is merciful, faithful, patient, compassionate, gracious, and sufficient! The reasons to praise and worship Him are endless!

Exodus 20:3                                                                                                                                                You shall have no other gods before Me.

Scripture teaches us that worshiping anything other than God leads to disaster. I urge you to take inventory of your life and allow the Lord to search your heart. Is there anything you’ve placed before Him? Let everything you do be an act of worship.

Psalm 9:1                                                                                                                                                        I will give thanks and praise the Lord, with all my heart; I will tell aloud all Your wonders and marvelous deeds.

Worship doesn’t have to be complicated. Start by reading the Psalms. King David, known as “a man after God’s heart,” filled the Psalms with praise, intimacy, and honesty. Study David’s life of worship and let it inspire you. Keep your focus on the Lord, shifting your attention away from yourself and onto Him. If you’re struggling, now is the perfect time to strengthen your personal relationship with God. Worship is about intimacy and closeness with Him.

David’s life was marked by worship through every high and low. He praised the Lord in battles, and he praised Him while fleeing for his life. David intentionally pursued God through worship, expressing his thoughts, feelings and emotions; all motivated by a desire to give glory to his Heavenly Father. For David, worship was a natural response to God’s presence. His example of openness and transparency before the Lord has blessed me and can help us all grow in our worship and faith.

1 Chronicles 16:4-6                                                                                                                                     He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord and to profess [God’s name] and to thank and praise the Lord, the God of Israel: Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel (Jaaziel), Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel with musical instruments, harps and lyres; also Asaph played loud-sounding cymbals; and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests blew trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

David instructs Asaph and his associates on how to praise the Lord, providing many “worship verbs” that serve as a great starting point for both corporate and individual worship. Here are just a few ideas David puts forth:

  • Proclaim His name.

  • Sing to Him.

  • Remember the wonders He has done.

  • Declare His glory among the nations.

  • Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

  • Give thanks to the Lord.

  • Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior.”

Let praise be our first response to the Lord when the miracle, breakthrough or answer comes. Praise and worship should always be our first response. Remember, praise is a gift we have the honor to pour out to our King.

I invite you to come and worship with us on Wednesday evening—fellowship in the chat begins at 5:00 PM PT and the message follows at 5:30 PM PT. Worshiping in community is a glorious gift we should never take for granted! https://www.trumpetsoftirzah.com/church

Let's Pray:

Lord, stir us to live a life of deeper worship. Holy Spirit, show us ways to make worship a lifestyle. Help us to be disciplined and intentional in our devotion to You.

In Jesus name, Amen.

You shall have no other gods before Me.

Wow this is a very powerful bible verse, and reminds me that worship the Lord means, we shall have no other Gods other than the Lord.

A myriad of ways that we can bring honor and love to the Lord through our praise and worship of Him. Something that came to mind while reading this wonderful post, is how a sense of PURPOSE lays a foundation for our expressed devotion to the Lord. When one carries a sense of meaning and purpose it becomes easier to release that Heavenly fragrance unto Him. Our purpose is to reflect Him and His character while here on earth and bring others closer to Himself. P💖R💖A💖I💖S💖E👑👑👑T🤍H🤍E👑👑👑L❤O❤R❤D❤
