If you've already listened to this week's podcast, then you've heard that the number 4 in the Bible means God's Creative Movement. We are going to spend this month exploring the creativity of God in addition to how He moves. If you haven't listened to the podcast, here's the YouTube Link OR you can also find it on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
How God moves... it can't be anticipated because His moves are often different that what we would choose. We only can reason with what makes sense for the present moment, with the anticipation of what might be best for the future, but God already knows the future. God already knows the actions, reactions and free will that others will choose. There are way too many variables in this world which is why we need God's Holy Spirit to guide us. When God moves, it's in His way as He sees fit which will always benefit those who love Him and also point back to His Deity.
Acts 17:28
For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
Life is about movement. I love the scripture above because it points out the fact that in Jesus we live, move and exist. Which means outside of Him we have the opposite; death, stagnation and non-existence. There is no in-between. There isn't a third option. One or the other - we only have two choices. The choice is ours to make and when we pick one, we have to stick with it. As a Christian Life Coach, I'm constantly saying that "if you are stuck, there is something that God is trying to teach you which you haven't learned and that's preventing you from moving forward." God is a God of movement. His creations are always in motion and always going through some life cycle. Our God is so creative that His creativity stays in motions after He creates! So if you are feeling stuck, you aren't in the flow of God's movement. Which means you need to identify the root cause of the obstacle so you can flow once again.
Now don't get me wrong - there are also times the Lord is calling us to rest and be still. That is very different than being stuck. In our rest, as we rest in Him, He's the One in movement in our life while He recharges and refreshes us. When we are in union with God, we are one with Him and His movements become our movements which is how He can be our strength.
Matthew 17:20
He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
God's creative movements are something that we get to partner with through the power of the Holy Spirit. Even a mountain, which would seem immovable, CAN be moved when we partner our faith in the Lord stating that the seemingly impossible is indeed very much possible. It is how He works. He can't be anything less than Himself. Our God is so full of power and might that His very speech creates and makes motion. And He offers that part of Himself to us today! Through the work that Jesus did on the cross, once He ascended into heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit upon all those who believe in Him. When we don't partner with the Holy Spirit, we end up rejecting a part of God, a part that has already been paid for. We are new covenant people who get to partner with God's creative movement - why would we reject that? Life is hard! We need all the help we can get!
This month, as you look around you for the number 4, look around at God's beautiful creations and look for the movement in them. It's spring - the flowers will be in bloom, the trees are once again getting their leaves, and nature is coming alive. Yet none of it was actually dead, just resting to be refreshed so that it could be glorious again.
Do you need to be refreshed? Do you need to be filled with God's glorious creative movements? Learning how to sit in the presence of the Lord, in stillness, is vital for refreshment. Put on that Christian soaking music, breathe deeply, and just lay down being mindful that the Lord is with you - because He always is. Disciplining yourself in the ways of God is the best thing you'll ever do for yourself. But you have to want it and make the time for it, He needs to be your number one priority.
Join me for church on Wednesday nights and live on TikTok at 3pm PT as we look more in depth at God's creative movements. It's going to be a very rich month!
